Wedding Tips
Last Minute Weddings are a possibility but avoid
disappointment and book well in advance
When you arrive at your hotel or resort take a few
minutes to check out the ceremony location so
that
you are familiar with it
If it looks like rain at sunset, ask if you can do the wedding earlier in the day
or perhaps the next day if you do not want to do it at your hotel
Chairs and sand often do not mix well. They sink. If you have elderly or
incapacitated members, you (or host) can always bring a few lawn chairs.
Guests usually stand in a semi circle around the couple as the ceremony
itself is usually only fifteen to twenty minutes in length
Active Ushers / Bridesmaids and Children coming? Keep them
busy and having fun building a sand castle walk way aisle to your ceremony spot
If you have ushers, have guests meet at a
designated spot and let ushers lead them to the ceremony location
Instead of giving mothers a flower,
consider purchasing a beautiful sea shell
and write in gold ink the day of your wedding in it and your names as a treasured
keepsake
Tents are great in a garden but on the beach at sunset they can block
the view and tend to ruin your photographs - If you decide you want one try a party rental store
Unity Candles work well inside or even in a gazebo but on the beach, the wind
plays havoc with them. Choose a rose ceremony instead
A guitarist, chello and flute, work well at a beach...even a boombox.
Remember there is no electricity.
If having a cake and champagne ceremony, take most of your formal photos
prior to the ceremony and during it. You will not want your beautiful
cake melting in the heat. If this doesn't work, take your cake and champagne
back to your accommodations and have it there.
Ask if the beach your are suggesting has
sand flies or no see ums
Encourage guests to dress casually and comfortably. This is
especially so when it comes to foot wear (if any) on the beach. For
photos you may want everyone to dress in
similar but two colors, for example,
everyone in tan and white or denim blue and
white. It makes it easier
for guests and lots of fun
Beach weddings are not only one of the most beautiful weddings but one of the
most romantic and a little planning makes it even better!
